Let’s get
about the business of why we are really here. To Focus on Jesus.
“When THE MAN Comes
Around”
November 19, 2006. Pastor
Matt
Once in a while things happen to you in life that make you stop and think that the life you are living is not what
it should be, it is out of whack, it needs refocused.
- (Picture of Texas) Share about Pastor Jimmy Holloway in Texas.
- (Show Picture of Twin
Towers.) Share about September 11th and how I wanted to come home and be with my family.
- Share about how life gets you down, you become stressed and overwhelmed and you say to yourself, this is not what I
signed up for.
o My kids are growing up without me…
o My wife hates me, etc.
Today I want to create a moment in your life that causes you to examine your life and see if you are where you
need to be.
I want to share
with you Three things to help you refocus you life:
1. You are going to die
Lyrics to Tim McGraw’s
Live Like You Were Dying:
He said: "I was in my early forties,
With a lot of life
before me,
When a moment came that stopped me on a dime.
I spent most of the next days
Lookin' at the x-rays,
And
talking 'bout the options and talkin’ bout sweet time."
I asked him when it sank in,
That this might really be
the real end?
How’s it hit 'cha when you get that kind of news?
Man whatcha do?
-
Once you are born, you can count on only one thing… Some day you
are going to die
-
What if that day was tomorrow?
What would you do…How
would you live if you knew today was your last day on Earth.
The Bible teaches us that today may be our last night on earth.
Ecclesiastes 6:12.
For who knows what is good for a man in life, during the
few and meaningless days he passes through like a shadow? Who can tell him what will happen under the sun after he is gone?
Isaiah 56: 9 Come, all you beasts of the field, come and devour, all you beasts of the forest!
Israel's watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream,
they love to sleep. They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding;
they all turn to their own way, each seeks his own gain. "Come," each one cries, "let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of
beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better."
James 4:13. Now listen, you
who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for
a little while and then vanishes.
- All out special plans and dreams mean nothing
2. Jesus is on gonna
get you (or not)
(The Message)
1 Corinthians 15:51-53. But let me tell you something wonderful, a mystery I'll
probably never fully understand. We're not all going to die—but we are all going to be changed. You hear a blast to
end all blasts from a trumpet, and in the time that you look up and blink your eyes—it's over. On signal from that trumpet
from heaven, the dead will be up and out of their graves, beyond the reach of death, never to die again. At the same moment
and in the same way, we'll all be changed.
There is this thing in the Bible called The Rapture.
(Explain it to them)
(Show Picture of the Rapture and explain it)
Matthew 24:36-44 "No one knows about that day or
hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the
coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,
up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.
That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will
be taken and the other left.

What would you do
if you knew today was everybody’s last day on Earth?
I hope you will share Jesus with them… because today may
be the Last Day.
3. You’re trapped
in the Matrix
(Show a picture of the Matrix)
Neo had been living his whole life thinking there was something
else out there
There is something else out there.
Ecclesiastes
3:11.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they
cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
We were not meant to live in a bubble called time and space. We were created for eternity!
John 3:16.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life
- Life begins at the point we choose to believe
in and live for Jesus.
The life we once saw as valuable becomes rubbish,
garbage compared to the valuable life with Jesus. Living outside of Jesus is
living in a heaping, stinking pile of garbage.
Philippians 3:8
What is more, I consider everything a loss
compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them
rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Paul who had everything the world could offer…
2 Corinthians 4:16-18. Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are
achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
SO, what do we do?
