Jesus Christ died on the cross, taking the penalty for our sins.  Three days later, He rose again, conquering the power of sin in our lives.  His death and resurrection are all that matters.  If we can agree with that, we can serve alongside each other.

We are not Christian because we are not Christians yet.  God is still working on us.  We will not totally become Christian until we are with Jesus in Heaven (and He makes us perfect).

The need is not usually the call.  The world has plenty of needs.  Let God be God and in the meanwhile figure out what He wants you to do and do it.  You can’t pretend to be God and fix the world around you.  That’s not your job.

If you don’t know what to do, go back and do the last thing you remember God telling you to do and do it.

Don’t say something in private that you would be afraid to hear in public.

Don’t ever find yourself alone with a person of the opposite sex.  We don’t usually have to worry about our own intentions but we do need to be cautious of others’ perceptions.

Opinions are like rear-ends.  Everyone has one and they usually stink.

Most problems in marriage are a result of poor communication.

If God can do anything, can He make a rock that is too big for Him to lift?

The Bible says all the days of your life are known by God before you are ever born.  What were you doing yesterday when no one was looking?  What do you plan on doing tomorrow?

Who do you really know?

Who we are, deep down inside us, can not be changed by the world around us.  We can stuff it, ignore it, or run from it, but everywhere you go, there you are.  The only way to change who you really are on the inside is to let God do the changing from the inside out.  The only way to let the real you out is by asking God to help you become the great person you know God wants you to become.

Saying “I’m not perfect, just forgiven” is not an excuse to live in sin.  It is simply a realization that we are all sinners in need of a Savior.  Don’t beat yourself up when you mess up, but also do not give yourself permission to continue to do wrong on purpose.

YAWN, YAWN, YAWN, YAWN.  Did you YAWN just now?  Yep, they’re contagious too.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.  Start making the most of your future now.  Let God direct your steps.

Ben-isms:

            Anyone:  “How you doing Ben?”

Ben: “Hanging in there like a hair in a grilled cheese”

            Anyone: :See you later Ben.”

            Ben:  “Thanks for the warning.”

Ben:  “Thank you…till you’re better paid.”

A man is truly known by what he does when no one is looking.  (That is why God knows the true heart of a man because He is always looking.)

False Ideas about God/ Church

“I can’t go to church until I get my life straightened out first.”

-          If that was true, there would not be any people in church.

“Church is full of hypocrites.”

-          Church people are only hypocrites when they act like they don’t have any problems or sin.  The rest of us are just broken.

-          The reality is that the world is full of hypocrites and the church is to be a place where people can stop being hypocritical and start facing their problems.

“God could never forgive me for the things I’ve done.  My sins are to big to be forgiven.”

-          Jesus died for all sins, big and small.  The Bible says that God has already forgiven you of your sins.  All you have to do is accept that forgiveness.

Most people come to the Lord because of someone they already know or because someone took the time to build a relationship with them.

People will come to church because of the pastor but they will only stay because of the relationships they build with other people in the church.
